avoid body kits like the plague.
Ah yes the F1 pump aka the pump that powers the fancy hydraulics on the gearbox and clutch, yes thats a "weak" point. Or rather it appears that the relay that controls it is. The relay fitted as standard appears to be under-rated and prone to failing in the "on" position. When that happens the pump runs all the time and burns out. When the engine is running you can't hear the pump running, if you're "lucky" it fails and you hear it when parked.
Preventative measures? I've heard of two - one is to find the uprated relay, personally I couldn't be bothered. The other is to replace the relay regularly, I did mine at the service. Easy DIY, relatively cheap, lots of peace of mind. Or get Catman to get his finger out and build a solid state relay instead.
Fixes? If the pump goes it can be expensive but I suspect some enterprising person has found either a way to get them rebuilt or a cheaper part from an Alfa.
I do wish Matt would set up a wiki for stuff - much easier to find stuff than search than all these posts!
