Getting them off is easy (I did it myself with the aforementioned floss.) It's how to stick them back on again successfully is the problem.

How about 'Lexus gold'?

Already pimping your new ride? Expect to see you all over the spring lowering/spacers/x-pipe/racing cats threads soon in addition to the wheel one you have already started.

Might they come off in one piece and can just be swapped over? Some bloke in the pub said they come off easiest with dental floss.

When I replaced mine I took a chance and bought from here

I know it's not the maserati thing to do but at less than £15 a pair it was definitely worth the risk

Yeh, removal easy, fishing line is better as it's stronger than floss, but sticking them back on without it being a mess seems a challenge. Of course I could leave them facing the wrong way but I see it everytime I walk up to the car........

Next stop paint and perhaps rear window light tint but i'm undecided on that so far. Paint is a problem as once I start doing the sides, then I will want to do more but I have remind myself that I'm not trying to win the concours, just make it well for another few years of use.

Good shout, might try them and if they aren't good when they arrive then I've only lost £15 or so. Cheers.

I previously bought similar for my QP and they were indistinguishable from the originals (ie cheap platic!) - but at least they were cheap. Can't seem to find then for QPV anymore. These are bigger than the ones you will have.

EDIT I've just compared my old ones to the ebay ones I bought and they are the same size !

I've ordered those ones off AliExpress, we will see what they are like when they arrive in about 3 years from now given the speed of shipping these days....

Don't forget to mark the position of the old ones before removal, a bit of tape at each end of the arrow will do it.

I'm pleased that my QPV upgrade does not have rear window tints. I much prefer the look without.

It's not so much the look I'm after but actually to darken things inside a little as the leather is soooooo cream. It almost reflects and makes it very bright on a sunny day. Currently have the rear blinds up to try and help keep the sun calm.

I ordered 2 pairs from AliExpress, 1 with the double stripe in red for erm... my tool box
The double red striped ones both have a paint run line presumably where the machine moves down after colouring them (and where the QA run out!)

I really dislike gold for cars, but I remember when that came up for sale last time and think it looks absolutely amazing. It suits the car so well, and being so light, combined with the interior, on a sunny day would be so refreshing to see among the usual sea of grayscale cars. Also, of course, the QPV is such a pretty car!

Wee update...

Got some Pagid pads for £83 for both sets thanks to the recommendation from @Zep ~They are being fitted next week, removing the yellowstuff pads and hopefully the brake squeal.

Valet guy coming next week also to detail the engine bay, I would try myself but time is tight. I’ll post a before and after photo if I remember.

Aim to track down the boot leak at the weekend, probably the seal where the electrical cable run pinches it I suspect.

Then I’ll book it for paint.

I think Aliexpress will be busy posting. I ordered some replacements too.

I got some rear pads from some site I forgot on here for 9 Euro! They turned out to be Mintex. Full set. Had new rear discs so needed to replace those, hardly used, £35 for some Ferodo's, squealed like mad so got some more Mintex from this site I cant remember - brakeshop.whatever I think

Good call on the pagid. Have used several varieties of EBC pads and have returned to Ferodo (I think). Often the noise can be cured with a brake service. remove pads and thoroughly clean the disks and calliper. Wash the pads and smooth the edges where they touch calliper, light filing by hand and some fine grit works for me. Take any glaze off the working face of friction material. Use whaterver you have, grinding wheel, ******* file or brick wall.

A further update.....

Last week we fitted the new pads, the brakes are much less "grabby" and the squeal has gone. The culprit was definitely EBC yellow stuff front pads, which are frankly rubbish. Couldn't tell what was on the rear as there was no branding but they weren't yellow so probably not the issue. Changed them anyway, and adjusted the handbrake.

Today I found myself with the time to tackle the engine and engine bay. There were a few of the screws that hold the plastic covers missing, incorrect and rusty. So, I spent a whopping £22 on the missing ones and incorrect ones (5 screws and 4 washers) and ordered some Autoglym engine cleaner and wire and detailing brush set. Took me about 3 hours to get it looking well, including taking a wire brush to all the rusty screws and giving them a coating of black Hammerite, and sorting the large washer that holds the coolant tank, which was mainly just made of rust!

Here's some before and afters, I didn't go too crazy as I was paranoid about the electrics, coils etc. But it's much better and although nobody sees it, made me feel satisfied! Loser that I am. :) Before any one says, the rocker covers are not leaking, just years of dirt. I couldn't get the fuel line to clean up well and as I said, I didn't go too mad for fear of breaking something.

It's booked for paint in a couple of weeks and I have received the Alibaba rear quarter tridents which seem decent enough. They cost less than £10 delivered from Hong Kong, whereas the genuine Pininfarina badge that I bought as one wing is missing it, was nearly £50 !! Insane.
