So the 11th is rapidly approaching and we're all but sorted.

A brief recap of the itinerary..

11am - Meet at Ace. Get there a little earlier if you want to donate toys to the Fueltopia Toy run.
1.30pm - Head off to Reading for the karting. I've allowed one hour to get there. Is this okay?
2.30pm - Arrive Karting Nation for driver briefing (we can't be late for this)
3.00pm - Karting begins.
5.30pm - Karting ends. For those that are staying over, drive up to The Crowne Plaza, Marlow to check in.
7.30pm - Drinks at hotel.
8.00pm'ish - Taxi's to Villa d'Este for evening meal (or more accurately the pub next door. More on that in a minute).
8.30pm'ish - Evening meal.

Budgie has very kindly been sorting out the meal details as he knows this restaurant well. His thinking, and I agree with him, is that it will all just get too complicated if we try to tot up at the end of the night, so we're suggesting that everyone pay for their starter and main ahead of sitting down. We can sort this out in the pub next door to the restaurant, as the 'foyer' of the restaurant is tiny. There's an ATM across the road and Budgie can then pop next door and sort this out with the manager.

This will leave drinks and desserts and I suggest we either agree drinks per table, or pay separately for our own drinks and desserts.

Although the restaurant is a bit posh, it has a pretty relaxed atmosphere. Budgie is going to see if it's okay to present the Sports Maserati Awards after the meal, though we'll need to bear in mind there may be other diners still there, and so it may not be appropriate, but fingers crossed.

Right that's about as long a post as I ever want to have to do, so I'll shut up apart from saying..

Let's play it by ear. I don't want people to feel like they're over-paying with a split at the end of the night, but equally I don't want to over-complicate the whole thing. If people want to post there preferences here, it will give us a steer.

Right you lot just been down the VD to sort everything out, going back tomorrow to finalise and get best possible deal on the wine .. which is all very good by the way (reckon we can manage two cases between us but we can confirm after the karting)
As a thought and seeing most are staying in my neck of the woods what about Sunday Lunch we could rag up the local area first ... and generally make a nuisance of ourselves through the country lanes Marlow Henley etc ..... just had a word with my mate who owns my local (just up the road from the VD and the hotel) and he will do lunch for the lot of us and give us the restaurant to ourselves (Restaurant and I use the term loosely) but food superb or possibility second local Parkies Pub ‘Michael Parkinson’ to you (but that is a bit short notice) BUT CAN TRY let me know what you think through Miles or keith@cellest.com can’t do this site during the day ...

Later Keith

Working on the principle that you can never have enough of a good thing, I'd be up for a Sunday morning razzle-dazzle.

Haha, Sadly mine went the way of the basin long since. Bring it if you wish Phil, but I hope you keep it on a leash. :)
