Following on from Dem's excellent suggestion I thought it worth getting a thread on the go.

All in the mixing pot at the moment, but the general thinking so far is something pretty relaxed.

A Saturday in May / June / July?
Meet at Ace cafe for lunch?
A drive to a nice pub where they're willing to lay on a BBQ for us?
Nearby budget hotel for overnight?

All suggestions welcome, but if you're interested in attending, please just post below.

Just a suggestion, the Auto Italia meet at Stanford is in June so as a lot of us attend that you may be best organising this either in May or July. Just a thought.

New Forest? Quite fancy a few venison burgers.

(Maybe Dan can catch another one for us - or, failing that, ask Fenton)

New Forest is a lovely part of the country, if i had to move to another area it would be there, visited in 2009 and loved it, oh and Meridien is on the door step too.

Why not combine the BBQ with the AutoItalia Stanford hall event on same weekend?

I would think a meet that combined something else would be best, Stanford is a great suggestion, others would be the Silverstone Classic, I also think a midlands meet might be best. Not so sure about the cheap lodgings as you don't get late night bars or discos in Premier Inns!!

I agree, good idea.

I enjoyed Stanford last year and would love to meet a few more of you. Missus even said she wants to some next time! (though we couldnt do the Christmas meet).

Woody, shame you could not make the Xmas doo, you are one of the 'regulars' I have not met yet. Stanford Hall is a great shout can we just make sure it does not clash with either of the Le Mans meets. 2nd week in June and July?

Bang up for it!

I dont think stanford will be a good idea as its le mans also....

I think may is best, early may is brooklands so mid or late may, if not may it has to be july....but with some people on hol i think may is best month for it....esp as we like our sep meets....

Miles is right, ace meet for lunch then a pub that does bbq, i know one in hampstead that does but ill see if theres any out of london, then a local travelodge for those coming a long way or we can call it a night....

A mini xmas meet but without the all out activities....xmas will always be the special one....

I can have a look for greek restaurants with parking that can make us a bbq or meze if worse comes to the worse...anyone up for that??

Lets get a list then get deposits together to sort it out....on average a meze is £25 and the food does not stop but itll be indoors, i had an outdoor bbq idea planned in ky head so ill persue that....

KY head Dem; does that mean your brain has gone to jelly?

I love the idea of a Greek evening it would just be so relaxed, informal and different! Also happy to go with a BBQ as well...

Stanford is not Le Mans weekend, Le Mans is 16th and 17th of June whereas Stanford is always the first Sunday of the month. The ace maybe a great venue etc.... but it is not exactly central for all members that is why i think Frank suggesting the Stanford meet would be good to tie in with as it is more of a Midlands meet so equal for the Northern and Southern members. Just a thought.

Really not fussed what food we eat, more worried about the venue (to eat), the hotel (if different from the meal) and the date. I would imagine BBQ is more popular than Meze....

So the question is does anyone know a pub in the midlands that does BBQ nights and could cater for all of us? Or are you thinking of hiring a venue and getting catering?

SimonM lives there, we could hold it round his house!

I can then repay him for trashing my hotel room, clearing out the mini bar and selecting all the **** available on my room services!

That was fun, trying to make the receptionist understand that I am not a pervert as she readied my bill :f7:
