I know you are right Andy, and I've nothing against Porsche - I drive one, and until I bought the BMW recently, it was my everyday car.

What I meant was that the magazines will kill it, regardless of how good it might be.

Needs six cylinders at that price point. Porsche looked at turbo fours' for the new Cayman/Boxster and were bright enough to realise that it does not work for that money, especially in an open car where noise is critical.

We have two Audis' at home. One with a 250PS V6 and the other with 265PS in a turbo 4. The latter is faster but the former is much more fun to drive.

Well chaps, if size matters, what about the McLaren 3.8 litre in the MP4-12C and that retails at what..£175K.
The Alfa looks the part and I agree a bigger engine would do it justice, just like the early BMW Z3/Z4, underpowered. If the performance is good enough, well let's wait and see..??

Current Specs, 250bhp, 0-62 = 5sec, top speed 155, weight around 850kg..??

It is Adam...a stunning car that has been spoilt by the terrible, terrible max power lights.....One little detail spoils the whole effect of the front and the car. The concept lights were clean and much better.

Interesting...They saw some very nice things about the car but the bit about having to stand on it to get it moving is a suprise...SOmething so light should pull easy from low down.....An Elise didn't need to be stood on to get going....At 45/50k this car should be a well sorted sportcars and I really hope that Alfa have pulled it off and not just made a very pretty car that goes well but is flawed....Flappy paddle doesn't sound clever either.

'But its flappy paddle gearbox is a pain in the bum, the blown 1.75-litre engine is too laggy until the boost kicks in with a chirruping whooompfhh, and you have to stand on the thing to really get it moving.'

The specs are flopping around all over the place, dependant on which article you read, some mention a flat 6..?????

Just read the Top Gear reveiw and they zero'd in on the 2 things that was worrying me (and the rising base cost too) the engine and the lights.

It does look jaw droppingly geourgous but I feel I did the right thing.

Most of us on here were hoping to make a quick buck but it is clear that would not have happened so right move to get deposit back I think..

Interesting review from Pistonheads.....

My mind is still not made up, I have been wanting this car since 2011 but I agree £45k for a "poverty spec" is too much. However, I don't think Alfa will have a problem shifting them. They may not make the kind of money 8C's do but I am still tempted to put a deposit down - depending on how much they want and how much the options are! I can't believe the standard seats are cloth, at £45k I would expect some leather.
