O/T a bit but are the tyre sealant/inflators not up to much? Short of having a huge blow out, are they not a good alternative?

Thats what i had tho Woody , my split was on the inside 10 inches long around the outside of the tread where it meets the sidewall , lifted the rear quarter up briefly about 6 inches doing 80 mph on the motorway, tyre foam was a no no , , probably fine for the odd nail puncture , but it does ruin the tyre for future repair ,

What i am wondering and i will check , whether its possible to get one of our wheels complete with deflated tyre in a coupe empty boot , not sure it goes, now there's a dilemma put your space saver on and where do you put your punctured wheel and tyre heheh NO way would i want to put it in the back seat even wrapped in a blanket

Aye, blimey, no amount of foam will sort that! I know you can get the spare from Eurospares for something like £600. Ouch!

Spare wheel/tyres

I modified a spare wheel from an older model (QP?) to fit my 4200 I can take the dimensions needed and report back....don't forget I have a set of part worn 18" Michelins should anyone be stuck for a tyre

I paid £20 for this wheel and tyre but needed to modify it and the dimensions are as follows;

ORIGINAL diameter of central bore (to fit hub) was 62mm. This was machined out to 68mm bore for about 10mm deep to fit 4200 hub size (easy to check by removing wheel and checking central diameter). It was the same front and rear.

The PCD of the bolt holes was correct at 110mm but needed opening up to 15mm as they were originally 14mm and my bolts wouldn't pass thro' the holes.

There is a serious amount of offset to ensure the spokes go past the brake caliper without colliding with them and an equal amount of return to ensure that when the suspension is compressed the tyre doesn't rub against the wheel arch.

This wheel fits both front and rear but there is one caution which I have to check..........I saw somewhere that with a spare wheel you also get a set of SHORTER bolts. I've tried the standard bolts on the front and they are fine, I just need to check that on the rear the bolts don't protrude in too much or they may catch on the brake shoes. Next time it's jacked up I'll take the disc/drum off and check.

I have one - assumed it was in the car from new. It does have Ferrari log on it, will add picture later.

Never fitted it, but will try is soon when I fit my new calipers. Happy to be a rescue vehicle - or loan it to someone doing european trip.

Ref the "real wheel" after a blowout, I always carry old towels, but will now add bin bags and tape. The real wheels don't fit in the boot on 3200.

I am aware that often there are no tyres avaiable in Europe so I will be looking at leaving a pair of part-worn tyres at the in-laws near Le Mans.

these will be 18", one front one rear. If anyone has a set of 19" ones I will be happy to keep them there to.
