it's simply incomprehensible that in this day and age of super technology that Gatwick airport doesn't have the means or should I say the will to combat this threat, drones aren't exactly a new thing, I understand that these things have been used to drop mortars in other parts of the world and should be taken as a serious security threat, end of

I did see a report on the news that a company had offered to deploy their fixed jammers and they would cover the entire airport, I understand that these devices do run in to 10's of thousands of pounds, so the question is "are they putting money ahead of security"?

This is simply stupid; it’s an unconfirmed sighting which means you don’t even need a drone now, you just ring in and say you’ve seen one. Complete and utter bolloxcs.

And hence why they dont let you fly anymore :)

Remember the volcano fiasco? Well, this is it’s manmade successor. I’m so glad I’m not involved in this sh!t anymore, there are too many jobsworths building empires for my liking.

I saw on the news the Dutch have trained birds of prey to catch drones , it was quite inpressive watching this huge bird just pull one out of the sky , as usual the UK has no plan other that to run around waving their arms about

It was actually Glasgow airport and a baggage handler, John Smeaton, who tackled a terrorist who had ram raided a jeep packed with propane cannisters into the airport building.
His interview afterwards :-

And of course Billy Connolly then included it in his shows.

Great idea until they (the raptors) lose a foot. As ever, not quite as simple as some media sites would have you believe.

Yup, if this was happened in Glasgow, there would be nutters in their Corsas and stanced VeeDubs out looking for the pilot, ready to kick **** out of him for threatening Xmas in Ibiza and Benidorm.

Like the rest of you I can’t quite understand how one or two drones can close an airport for days on end not can I understand how we don’t seem to have the capability of searching and destroying them.

Everyone in the area that owns a shotgun needs to be empowered to shoot them out of the sky.
