Think I may put in a claim, the bumper got a knock when the front slammed into the tarmac, its repairable also, I think he added it if I was doing a claim. There is a bumper on ebay for £350 right now. I need to weigh up the options, I have a £350 excess and would lose my no claims I guess.

It depends on whether you have no-claims protection. For the amount of damage, personally, I would claim and get the whole lot done in one go.

Quite a few 3200s at Eurospares with rear end damage...you may be able to get used parts from them that have less miles/use than yours...maybe very lucky and find ones in your paint colour.

Thanks, I'll give them a ring.

I'm quite sure that "no-claims" discount does not mean that they will ignore claims. If you have 10 years of No-Claims discount that is protected, but had an accident last year, your insurance would cost more that if you did not have that accident.

Consequently, if you were to claim your insurance costs will go up, whether your No-Claims is protected or not.

Agreed - it may not impact (sic) the current policy but it will still have to be declared with any new insurer if you choose to change come the next renewal. I'm in two minds whether protected no claims is worth a d*mn. I suspect it isn't.

Just got a quote for the bumper repair/respray work

Remove bumper, remove grill and trims/refit after repair.

Repair bumper/paint etc

Labour inc paint and materials £609.50

Same amount to repair and paint as just painting a new bumper?
New bumpers need a lot of preparation before painting. Plus vat.

I think its an insurance job.. and at least my stone chips will get sorted at the same time.

I'd say it definitely is. Although the premium goes up after a claim/incident, it is still subject to discount. Without the protection it would certainly cost more as the NCD would be reduced or lost altogether along with the rise in premium.

Yup, it is.....insurers like those who go the extra mile in insuring their cars....but may not reflect on how they then deal with subsequent claims
