Interesting debate for me.
I have a very good friend replacing an RS4 with a GTR. He always asks me about the Maserati - running costs, reliability, practicality .... As I keep saying to him - it's a state of mind. If you get the trident then nothing else will come close. I have no desire to be the quickest, loudest (ok a set of Larinis would add to the already massive pleasure), or most technically leading edge. I just like being a Maseratisti - a little more reserved, still bloody quick and just a different class.
He will still go for the GTR (already looking at 650bhp upgrades), but did admit a couple of weeks ago that he had a tinge of jealousy knowing that he was missing that special Maserati only feeling.
Each to their own: 180mph; sub 5 second 0-60 and 396bhp. More importantly: Giugiaro styling; Ferrari built V8; passionate fellow owners; exclusivity and under sated class - I think the Gransport ticks plenty of boxes.
