I used it when travelling to Mike Roberts for a service. Spoilt by the average speed cameras so very stop start to get any noise going - bit disappointing really.

You can avoid these average speed check cameras by switching lanes between the two cameras... A friend of mine explained this to me while travelling through a set on a private test circuit that just so happened to have the cameras installed. Apparently they are pretty silly in that the average speed check only works if you stay in the same lane.

I find its better to travel slowly through a tunnel and press the clutch in while revving the engine to fully appreciate the acoustics!

Not so easy to dip the clutch in a CC Nick!

Wondered why there were 'stay in lane' signs. Anyone want to test this theory out?!

It is Newton; just pull both paddles together and it goes into neutral at any speed and then pull the right one and it will select the appropriate gear for the speed. Just the same as a manual, but no footwork needed!

As I said I have tried this on a private test track, which happened to have roadworks with average speed camera checks. It was checking for 40mph average and I went through at 80mph no problem., simply switching lanes between each set. I have not tried them on a fixed set on a public road but I believe the software is the same.

I wouldn't want to get the blame for someone getting a few points so if you are going to try it I suggest you don't go mad, give it a go at say 10mph over the limit and wait for the post....

Not sure about that Benny; mine won't get neutral higher than second I'm totally sure?

Anyone???

Something is wrong then Newton ............................ as Ian says you can go into neatral doing 120mph just by pulling both paddles , soon as you flick any paddle up or down paddle it will select the correct gear for the speed you are going automatically

you could possibly need a software re-boot or ....... and im whincing when as i write this ...........possible actuator problem hope not .... but worth checking

NOTE TO ALL.

when SPEC's first came out there were only capable of monitoring 1 lane...sadly the new ones can manage 5 lanes, so save your licence and keep to the 50mph limit.

According to a couple of videos on youtube it's 40mph and the lane change is an urban myth as Safrane says. Technology is far better than you think.

Pop it in second in a tunnel and you'll still get a lovely noise and won't upset Plod.

I heard the same thing re the lane change , and it was even covered on a tv doc as being true , it certainly was the case originally and was up untill earlier this year , i hit the M1 an awful lot reduced speed lanes from junction 13 down to 10 , always do the lane change thing but never exceed 60 havent had the dreaded letter yet ,

Obviously the technology is available whether its applied or not is a different matter , personally my limit is 60 , on newer improvements / builds is it really worth the risk ................................................mind you i could get me self a set of Urby's plates

Hi

Thanks for the show of interest. Happy to organise this meet in Surrey ( Gatwick ) Comment on lane changing to avoid average speed cams. I heard they can read your plate. Take care !

I must have been incredibly lucky then, either that or the limit is set well above that on the signs?
