Milan is a nightmare to drive around/park...unless you've got a slot at an hotel...Paris not so bad once you get in past the outer arrondisements....again, get a parking bay...but avoid if only bypassing it and don't use the peripherique to get past Paris, give it a very wide berth.

Having said that.....its a blast doing 60mph up the Champ Elysee......and the Arc de Triomphe can be a bit of a trouser filler if you're lacking in the ball5 department!!!!!!!!

:)

;)

P

Otherwise...enjoy!

Dave, totally O/T but are you going to AutoItalia? If so, I'm going from Northampton this year if you want to meet up en route.

Back ON topic......we drove down there in September. Came back from Lake Garda via Como. From Como we stumbled across a couple of passes, Gotthard being the first. We stayed in a place called Grindlewald in Switzerland....some nice roads surrounding that, including parts of the Andermatt Loop. Lovely, lovely part of the world.

Even bumped into a QP at the top of one of the passes :)

Milan now has its own version of the Congestion Charge, plus lots of one way streets et al. Don't bother driving in, best to leave the car at a metro station and ride the metro in, eg in Sesto FS (the last, northernmost stop, on the M1 Red Line).

Great trip do enjoy Dave.
I went to Lake Magicore last August via the Alps from Switerland into Italy and back was fantastic.
Travelled light with a 15 and 11 year old in the back of the 4200 cc but what a trip which will never be forgotten.
Phil.

Gixer, you lucky boy, have a great trip. The road toll tags are an assett when driving in France, don't have to stop and pay, just drive through slowly.
Cheers

Hi all, back from Italy today... having visited
Reims
Lake Como
Brescia ( Mille Maglia Museum)
Sirmione ( stayed in hotel within the castle Walls)
Garda
Stelvio Pass ( snow still on the ground)
Swiss Villages in the Alps

I have to say that a road trip is the best way to appreciate your Masser!
The QP didnt miss a beat in 2000 miles..highlights was in the Old town of Sirmione, when tourists were literally falling over them selves to have a photo taken in the Castle next to the Car... you don't get that with many other cars.
Fuel consumption over the journey has been an incredible( for a QP) 21.9 mpg. That's including cruising all day at 130Km, ragging it in the mountains & Parading along the lakesides..
If u need to fall n love with ur Maserati again..take a road trip.
Totally smitten
Dave :)

Is that Matt Monro I hear?...... :D

Great to hear you had a good time Dave. The Monty Carlo run earlier in the year was just the same. It's what these cars were built for. It'd be a crime not to let them stretch their legs every now and then.

Now it's time to hide those petrol receipts and ignore the bank statements for a month or two! :D

Matt Munroe was indeed with me in spirit..:)
Makes u appreciate these cars more... the sound of the auto blip on the downchanges, reflecting of the stone Walls, in Stelivo.. will stay with me for a while..!

When I did the Stelvio, the CD had thrown a fit and wasn't working so Matt wasn't an option.. Mind you, I wouldn't have been able to hear him over the exhaust even if he was.
