simple thing is then, dont live there. No i understand it if a circuit is near a village etc but somewhere like oulton park, middle of know where then i really dont see the point of noise limits.

that was a loud little beast then, 95 db, a nissan micra produces that, jesus, you will only be able to round a track in a Toyota Prius soon.

I doubt the residents of Little Budworth would agree with that?

I think the daftest noise regs are at Donington Park where they can't have more than three noisy days in a row, so it turns a TOCA or SRO race weekend into a 4 day event with Free Practice on the Thursday, a dead day on Friday and Quali and Races on Saturday and Sunday. This completely ignoring the fact that bang next door to the circuit is East Midlands airport!

Missed you and your Team today.

Thanks. We leased the G50 to Chris Dittman Racing for the final two rounds of the year and don't get it back till next week as he needed to get some paintwork done before returning it.

We probably wouldn't have attended anyway to be honest for reasons I will explain at a meet rather than on here.

We have got one final outing planned for this year. We have agreed to run a driver in the BRDC Members All Comers Race at the Walter Hayes Trophy, so that should be a bit of fun.

Kind regards,

Robin

Good to see you on the forum again Robin...Completely understand if you are a resident that has lioved there for years and the racing has got more frequent to be honest....If you were used to 2 weekend meet every month and now its every Friday/Sat/Sun then this is an issue.....This arguement works both ways to be honest...But agree Robin, with an airport right next to Donnington its a bit of a strange one.

Nice one Phil, I was up your chuff when you span infield on the corner leading up to the pit straight. Say you passenger, then you, then your passenger again, FAB!

It was brown trousers time to start but as the track dried out, more and more grip was appearing. I left at 4pm, but SimonM text me to say the track was completely dry at 4.30, loads of grip apparently.

Best part of today, when the track was semi dry, after lunch, balancing the tail in the corners on the edge of the grip, made me feel that I was starting to learn it all again.

The only downside, is that I have the track bug again!

Awesome day, going again next year definitely.

That passenger was ME .... we did have some fun eh Phil!

Sorry, been busy, so I will try and answer your questions.

The tyres, Falkens, well, hum, not much tyre wear as it was damp, and I was fishtailing all over the place. What I did not like about the Falkens is the understeer out of the hairpin, great road tyres, poor on track but it was wet and very cold, which they did not like.
Brakes held up brilliantly, as did the rest of the car. Considering I was redlining it all day, fishtailing, double downshifting, engine braking, traction control cutting in and out every corner, wish I had been a bit braver and did as SimonM did and switch it off. Next time I will if its dry and I have better tyres.
The exhaust - same set up as SimonM, failed the 100db test at 105db with the valves open, but passed at 98db with them closed. Told not to use it with the valves open which I agreed to do (till I went round the corner)

I did feel sorry for the nice guy with the nice Honda NSX until it went wrong for him into the wall out of camp corner.
Hope it gets sorted out with his track day insurance cover?
Phil.

cracking day, good to see you fellas. Most of the day the track was comical - spun the rears in 4th in a staright line at one point!? - Matt, shame you couldn't have stayed longer as soon as the track dried the grip was immense, more than half the track is on full trottle hehe first time at Combe would LOVE to do it again, awesome..... Matt if you got the bug sure we could squeeze in another track day somewhere before end of the year... Pete if you fancy it, we could pick up where we left off :)

My last session round the track was wih a young lady from London who just happened to be passing. She wanted to go round in a Scooby, but non were available so they asked if I would give her a full 20 mins session [ohhhhh Matron!!!]

The track was dry by that time and I was hooning it around, almost keeping up with the GT3's...knuckles were white, car was drifting on all the corners and I was hanging on for dear life...bloddy woman would not shut up!!!...There was I doing my best to impress and she was sat side on in the seat chattin about Uni, her Mazda 323, and her dad...thought I had that lass from the Nuremburg next to me...still she loved it and thats what's it's all about.

Now I just need somthing a little faster...Fiat 500 Abarth anyone [If you were there you would know].
