Cheers fellas :) I'm afraid I don't, and the resolution is **** when zoomed... I took it on my old phone - just switched on black and white and snapped it! kind of wish I'd done a proper job now

Good to see you on the forum again Robin...Completely understand if you are a resident that has lioved there for years and the racing has got more frequent to be honest....If you were used to 2 weekend meet every month and now its every Friday/Sat/Sun then this is an issue.....This arguement works both ways to be honest...But agree Robin, with an airport right next to Donnington its a bit of a strange one.

Thanks Andy, appearances will be a bit sporadic for now but you will hopefully see more of me as things settle down.

Back on topic I agree totally if activity is increased it is understandable but a lot of the complaints come not due to that but due to new residents who move in and then complain. A bit like people who move into a village with a church and then complain about the church bells....... and in the case of Croft it was a family who had formally owned the circuit who brought the recent action over noise to try and get the circuit closed down, how mad is that?

When it comes to track days I am also a bit dubious as to the accuracy of the meters used at some venues or whether they over compensate at some venues to avoid complaint. We have had two occasions where our car has been noise checked for MSA or FIA Scrutineering then with no change to the exhaust etc.,.. a week or so later had a problem running at a track day with the circuit concerned claiming the noise was higher than it registered at scrutineering. A bit weird but hey ho.

Regards,

Robin

I have had my eye on them for about a year now as a serious consideration. If I sell the GS in the spring, I will still be too far off the GTS, so was considering going classic for a couple of years.

Interesting......though using as Bora etc during the winter would indeed be testing......even from the damage done through remaining wet for 3-4 months of year and then salted on top....buy a cheap daily run around too?

Frank, I have plenty of other cars, so would be well garaged over the chilly and wet months.

Dem, a similar mileage and condition. The sills should be stainless steel, so dont know what has happened to this one. Still, it looks like the owner is after £60k for her, and just goes to show what great value the Cornish car is.

PS, nice avatar.

Robin, hows the Bora coming along, dying to see one and have a nose round one?

Hi Matt,

The repairs are still on stop but things look like they will be resolved fairly soon now and my new business opens on Dec 3rd (the one I will actually earn money from unlike the race team from which the directors draw no salary) so hopefully the car will be back on the road for the Summer next year.

Happy to talk through Bora ownership with you or anyone else I've had my car over 10 years and done some big mileage trips in it so probably have more experience than most!

The Cornish Bora is listed as 1972 yet it has a later vented bonnet, my car is a '73 and still has the non-vented bonnet. I can't say I like the wheels or the spoiler either.

My car has body coloured sills, I queried this with Andy Heywood at McGraths and I am pretty sure he told me not all cars had them and on some cars they are body coloured. I would be suspicious of a car with matt black sill covers though and remember they are sill covers the structural sill is underneath and the sill cover needs to be removed to check it.

I would value condition and history more than mileage.

If anyone is going to look at a Bora for sale happy to tag along subject to availability etc.,.. but also definitely budget to get it inspected at McGraths or similar.

Kind regards,

Robin

Thanks Robin, I dont know why its so cheap, but I do know he has this car and one other up for sale. He only want to sell one of them, so when one goes, the other will be taken off the market.

The wheels and chin spoiler, well, hum, yes, that would need sorting, here are some other pics I have been sent of the car, feel free to cast your opinion:

Its in a carcoom air bag thingy.

Hi Matt,

Without having my car to hand to refer to.....

Picture 1

The airbox should be painted gloss black and the cam covers should be black crackle finish not red. Smacks of a bad or over restoration at some point. Apart from the obvious you need to check that both fuel pumps work, there is switch in the engine bay to switch between the two pumps, they have two fuel pumps for a reason, they fail quite often!

Picture 2

I don't think those reflectors should be there. You cant really clearly see the corners and top corner of the Kamm tail, this is a common place for rot to start.

Pictures 4, 5 & 6

I am pretty sure that is not an original steering wheel. The gauge to the right of the steering wheel shouldn't be there, there should be a couple more rocker switches instead.

Pictures 8, 9, 10

The panel bottom right comes off and the battery lives behind there, could be worth taking that off to see if it reveals anything. The slam panel should be black not chrome and as before I think the air intake is a modification.

Not much else I can tell from these pics I am afraid.

As a cautionary tale, the first car I looked at didn't look too bad and was a known car. The deal was I would have it inspected, we set a price and agreed all faults found in the inspection would be deducted from that figure. Andy Heywood stopped the inspection when we reached the stage where the vendor would have been paying me to take the car! They are a complex car for their age and can be expensive to fix.

Hope that helps

Robin
