Yep, and people enthusing about how cool it was.....

When I was at secondary school in the 70s WW2 was a big part of history lessons , my kids are 18 & 21 , WW2 was skimmed over at high school , nothing about the actual war just the reasons for it happening so it's no wonder their generation think it's cool if their only exposure to it is movies and call of duty

New drone laws came in a while back. Whilst there are now laws about flying within visible line of sight, min distance from airports, maximum altitude etc etc,, not all drones enforce geofencing or certain other of the rules under which they should be operated. Enforcement is hard if you can’t identify the drone or the pilot. Personally, I’d be all for registration, training, remote ID of drone, permit etc. If it deters wanky daftmess then why not. Until then it’s a bit of a free for all.

Adam that time you tried to fly yours into my face, is that now covered by the new laws?

Sorry about that. Had you been a couple of feet taller it would be extremely awkward. I blame Dave L - those gins he was knocking up definitely dented my sense of time, space, velocity and perspective.

I bought one of the DJI ones used before they had cameras built in , only flew it once , it was like watching a £500 note flying away with a gopro on and a lot more powerful than I was expecting , not for me, sold it the next day

I was into helicopters before they took (what looks like) all the skill out. Maybe 9 years back. Like many other things I find I get to a level of ability and there seems little benefit for the additional effort required to improve. I had the nose in hover down 9 times out of 10 but that was enough.

I went to a model aircraft airshow years ago , it was somewhere near Preston, a guy was flying a very large de-haviland Rapide along the runway parallel to the crowd line when a gust of wind caught it sending it towards the crowd

The commentator went from complimentary remarks about the construction and scale to

WHOA MAN WHOA MAN GET IT BACK UNDER CONTROL OH GOD OH GOD , then he pulled it back

THANK CHRIST FOR THAT

Eh... In the 70s WWII was still a recent event with the repacussions of the majority of western Europe being flattened and the mortal cost still being felt... There has been 50 years of history to include in there since... You know little events like the collapse of the Soviet Union or "9/11"... I really don't see the benefits on doing an entire year studying the WW1&2....

I'm 32 and studied WW1&2 at primary school secondary school then at university. Brilliant memory from my year three class room was the teacher trying to explain about it to a bunch of 7 year olds and she told the class to go away and speak to our grandparents about the war... She looks at me and is awkward and says go ask your dad about it... I remember telling my father what teacher had said and he responded "son... Iran was not involved in the world wars so don't sweat it" which i suppose is somewhat true but perhaps teacher was expecting a more proactive approach lol

When I did History in the mid 70'S and I left school in 78 it was all about WW1 and 2 and it was all somewhat current history really.
Would be like talking about the former Yugoslavia today.

We did the bloody Roman invasion! Not sure how old that makes me. I'll ask my Mum. We also did the Industrial Revolution. Crop rotation, the Spinning Jenney, the Diggers etc etc. I'd be more interested now. Probably. Well, maybe not. I'd like to think I would be.

Yeah did all that too in a Secondary Modern in the Black Country where a lot of the industrial revolution happened.
WW1 and 2 were just part of the History lessons.
One of the few CSE I have is history actually enjoyed that more girls in that class ;)

After reading the national newspapers and knowing what is happening for real, I can safely say that's they are way off the mark and are out to make trouble.
Their standards are so low I hope the two who were recently released after being questioned sue the Daily Mail for every penny.
Now the papers are questioning whether there were drones or not. They are so desperate it's laughable.

I've given up believing a lot of what I read in the papers. Journalistic integrity in some 'news' papers is ******!

Our press is one of the poorest in the world
I have not read a newspaper seriously for years as they all have an agenda even the FT which is one of the better ones
