That sounds like a great idea...So, all we need is a friendly garage with a couple of lifts to play with and enough cars with lots of different bits on them to try to make it worthwhile. Oh, and recording equipment and a good place to do some standing starts and drive-by's. Starting to sound like a track day to me, but that might be a bit over the top...
;-)

All over to someones place with some beers and a willing mule car then.

Inclined to stay out of that rev range when at all possible.........but since Autoshield changed clutch and remounted the exhaust system, no where near as bad....IMHO

The noise in the tunnels through North Wales on A55 was truly awesome................the cheapest thrill known to a big child.....bar none.....;)

Just to clarify, a lot of the tinniness and rasp is due to a cr4p mic on I-pad, it can't cope with the exhaust sound and wind noise. When going through tunnels there is plenty of bass, mid range and top end. At idle, with the valves closed it sounds quite tinny but open them and the bass line swells and under load is just pure sound.

It's certainly true that the video doesn't do it justice. Also, there's a strange audio aberration where it sounds like an unnamed man says "that was 140". In a clearer recording it would have been obvious that he actually said "that was under 40."

Bloody iPads.

See, this is the issue with Larini's for me..I've said it before but when I lent Marks 4200 the drone at Motorway speeds was shocking.....I couldn't do distance in it as it would drive me made. It seems that others do this as well from what yoou say Mark....
I think the one you tried was unvalved, Andy. I would find that unbearable on a long journey. Most of the time on the motorway when I'm cruising I turn Sport mode off. I find the suspension more comfortable and the drone is significantly reduced. Don't really need snappy gear changes either, so it's the best of both worlds. On A and B roads when there's a lot of changing gear, accelerating and braking etc its less noticeable because of being more involved in the driving and using more of the rev range. If I was doing this from scratch there's no way I would be shelling out £2.5k for the Larini boxes.

Only just got to listen to Ian's video, wickedly loud but perhaps the crackles are a little 'tinny', I think that would frustrate me after a while, I wonder if a bigger bore would bring in a bit more base?

Bore all the way through, Newton, or is the real difference determined by the size of the exit pipe?

Perhaps we must hire a designer of tubas...

With the valves closed the pops and crackles are tinny but much reduced, with the valves open the pops and crackles are a lot louder and snappier. In unsilenced 'Le Mans' spec they are like artillary fire!

It has to be an individual thing I think, as long as it does what you want. I suppose I'm a little scared of over revving such a valuable engine so I am not keen on the high pitch. Ironic really as I had no problem wringing everything possible out of my bikes, particularly 2 strokes!

Benny - really?? ... there's a MORE like artillery fire option? But your video was already shot during a reenactment of the Battle of the Somme as far as I could tell.

Come with us to Le Mans and find out for yourself. Tunnel busting is elevated to a whole new level!
