Disaster! Loz had a blow out on the way down. He is all ok but he was unable to get a tyre so has been recovered home.
Chin up mate
What can i say guys ,totally gutted , after the tense build up of whether we would actually make the trip due to Kaz's work , the stops were well and truly pulled out and we managed to make the deadline, albeit thurs eve late arrival to meet Matt at the hotel in Ashford , set off as planned early Fri , lovely day , and a good crossing was had , arrived Calais all in tact with SimonM ,Matt and Paul , Superb blatt down to Le Touquet and we managed by tentertive manipulation to get Pauls Quattroporte up to 120 mph Well done mate proud of you , and your smile said it all excellent , arrived in Le Touquet and took the Parade of Massers down the narrow city center high street, with sport buttons well and firmly switched on , the locals knew we had arrived heheh
Met up with the others at the restaurant and after a frenzied round of handshakes and hello's we had a good bite to eat , great start to yet another french trip , as we departed the restaurant, a slight drizzle started and after 10 miles turned into a proggressive downpour , Massers undeterred we disrupted the french traffic system with a long line of Massers out in the Fast lane, after 40 miles at around 100 mph i started to get a slight vibration all through the car , progressing to a severe wobble , slowed down to around 80Mph and the others crept ahead , all of a sudden a giant bang and the car started slewing , foot immediately off the gas no braking wjen this happens, managed to bring the car under full control to a gentle stop on the hard shoulder ,
Checked out the tyre and yes totally ragged on the inner edge , any hope of filling with tyre weld was truly out of the question , Rob then Matt had turned round and come to my aid , Luckily a few metres down the road was a rest area , and i slowly drove to safety , i already knew at this stage it wasn't going to be an easy fix , thank god for My european cover which came into play , not without its problems i might add , matt and rob were thanked and i sent them on there way , was definately no point in blighting their trip .
A couple of hours later still raining but at a local garage in Abbeyville it soon became apparent after a manic phone call session , that NO where in France was a 265 X 30 x 19" available , soaking wet , miserable and even more gutted , a Kaz that wasn,t a 100% we decided to cut and run , i knew that in the UK i would have a new tyre within hours and that seemed more inviting an option as the garage was closing and kicking us out , we decided to get recovered back to UK , , 13 hours later here i am about to search and have a new tyre fitted
My thanks to Rob and Matt for the immediate help , and to all those whose texts of sincerity that i recieved constantly all my way home ,a big thanks guys enjoy your weekend and hope the weather picks up
regards loz
